Businesswoman Mary Wambui arrested over illegal firearm possession

Businesswoman Mary Wambui has been  arrested for allegedly being in possession of an unregistered firearm.

Wambui was arrested on Wednesday by detectives before being taken to the Muthaiga Police Station where she is currently being held.

The controversial businesswoman recently hit headlines after being arrested and arraigned in court over alleged tax evasion amounting Sh 2.2 billion 

Wambui, the Purma Holdings director was  released on a Ksh.50 million bond and a surety of Ksh.25 million after pleading not guilty to the tax evasion charge.

Upon her release, the Firearms Licensing Board ordered the businesswoman to surrender her firearms which , the board accused her of illegally in possessing. 

She is set to be  arraigned in court on Thursday.
