Mama Ngina Girls Secondary School has been closed indefinitely after another attempted arson by the students on Wednesday morning.
Mombasa County Director of Education Peter Magiri confirmed the closure stating that the fire broke out in one of the ablution blocks in the school compound when the students were preparing for morning preps.
He said the decision to close the school was arrived at after a dawn meeting between the school management and the authorities.
"We have released the students to go home after attempting to burn down a store. We have weighed and seen that it is good to let them go home for some time,” said Magiri.
“We are not saying when they are coming back because the school board has to make a decision.”
Police have since commenced investigation into the cause of the fire.
The threat was the third failed attempt within a span of two weeks to burn the first institution which is the only girls' national school in Mombasa
