The future of Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat remains in limbo with his two month contract set to end immediately after Stars World Cup qualifier clash against Amavumbi on Monday November 15.
A source privy with the newly installed caretaker committee told a local daily that the former Moldova head coach will leave his role at the expiry of his two-month on Monday.
Under his reign Stars picked two draws and lost twice against Mali ending it's hope for booking a spot at the 2022 World Cup set for Qatar.
“Firat will leave after the game as the secretariat is determined to put in place the required mechanism for improving the national team. There was an outcry after his appointment and how he has handled the team especially the 5-0 defeat to Mali has worked to his disadvantage,” a source at the caretaker committee secretariat told Daily Nation.
During its inaugural address, the Justice (Rtd) Aaron Ringera led committee remained mum on Firat's future but revealed that it had taken control of the national team affairs including footing for it's bill as it prepares for its final World Cup qualifier match against Amavumbi of Rwanda.
“As we are here our team is preparing to receive the Rwandan national team to make sure they are taken care of. We shall manage the match at Nyayo National Stadium on Monday,” said Justice (Rtd) Ringera.
Firat was hired on a two-month contract on September 21. At his past workstation he managed 11 matches where he lost nine games and drew two.
