The Director of Criminal Investigations( DCI) George Kinoti has been elected to the International Criminal Investigation Police Organization( Interpol) executive committee.
Kinoti was elected during the 89th session of the Interpol General Assembly in Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday
He will hold the position for a three-year term.
The DCI chief who was voted overwhelmingly will represent Africa alongside Sudan's Director-General of Police Mahdi Elemam.
His election is an endorsement of the strategies in the management of crime especially in counter-terrorism and other transnational crime.
Interpol is made up of over 195 member states and its mandate is to work with its members and other international organizations like United Nations to combat international crimes.
