Covid-19: Kenya records 70 new cases, 36 recoveries

Kenya has recorded 70 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size 5,755 tested, bringing the country's case load to 253,409 while the positivity rate stands at 1.2%. 

In a statement on Tuesday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe that currently, there are 444 patients  admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,175 are under the home-based isolation and care program.

Total recoveries now stand at 246,957 as 36 more patients have recovered from the disease. From the new recoveries, 29 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 7 are from various health facilities countrywide.

Sadly, one patient succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 5,282. 

Of the 26 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU),  12 are on ventilatory support and 14 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 130 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 129 of them in the general wards while 1 patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

As of November 1, a total of 5,377,727 vaccines had so far been administered across the country with 3,705,253 being first doses and 1,672,474 being second doses

The government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
