Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir won the 50th edition of the New York Marathon on Sunday clocking 2:22:39 while compatriot Albert Korir won the men's race in 2:08:22.
Jepchirchir now becomes the first athlete to bag an Olympic gold medal and win the famed borough race in the same year.
Kenya's Viola Lagat and Ethiopia's Ababel Yeshanch we're second and third respectively.
In the men's race, Korir who finished second in 2019 led through from the 35 km mark and leaped into the air as he cut through the finishing tap in Central Park.
Moroccan Mohammed El Aaraby was 44 seconds behind in second place while Italian Eyob Faniel was third.
