Businessman sentenced to 23 years in jail for attempting to kill hotelier Osewe

Businessman Tom Mboya Oywa has been sentenced to 23 years in jail for the attempted murder of prominent hotelier William Osewe in 2016.

The court found Oywa guilty of attempting to kill Osewe when he shot him at a restaurant on Thika Road in Nairobi, leaving him with severe injuries.

Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku handed the sentence to the tour operator on Wednesday. 

Mutuku convicted Oywa on two counts; attempted murder and injuring the prominent businessman who owns the prominent Ronalo Foods restaurants in Nairobi and Kisumu. 

According to the Chief Magistrate, the prosecution had proved the evidence beyond reasonable doubt that the accused indeed committed the offense.
