Rio Olympic saga: Former Sports CS Wario, Soi found guilty

Former Sports CS Hassan Wario and ex-National Olympic Committee of Kenya( NOCK) official Stephen Soi were on Wednesday found guilty of corruption and abuse of office over the 2016 Rio Olympics scandal.


Their four co-accused however were acquitted due to lack of sufficient evidence.


The four included Former Sports Principal Secretary Richard Ekai, Haron Komen, Patrick Nkabu, and Francis Paul.

Both Wario and Soi have been remanded by the trial Magistrate Elizabeth Juma at the Gigiri Police Station pending their pre-sentence on Thursday, September 16.

The officials were implicated in the Sh 88 million graft scandal that rocked Team Kenya during the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
