A woman has pleaded guilty to charges of causing grievous bodily harm to her husband whereby she poured boiling water at him a domestic fight after he allegedly returned home with a female companion.
The woman, Pamela Mwendwa admitted to causing the injuries to Sebastian Irukan, the husband and father of her child.
Mwendwa appeared before principal magistrate Sharon Maroro at the Kibera Law court where she said that her husband returned home with another woman and told her she had found the right companion.
According to her, the incident occurred when the other woman told her she had been told to remove her from the house in Gachui village within Dagoretti, Nairobi on July 23.
Mwendwa admitted, “I started to pack to leave but before I finished, my husband took water that I was boiling to make tea and put it in a container, and approached me. We had a tussle before he burnt me and accidentally the water fell on him.”
However, police reports indicate that the accused had asked Irukan about the woman he had been seen with and she attacked him with the water before leaving for work.
Irukan who was helped out of the house by neighbours who heard him screaming suffered
injuries on the neck, shoulder and parts of his abdomen.
He reported the matter to the police after receiving treatment from hospital and after investigations were concluded, Mwendwa was arrested.
She was released on a cash bail of Sh100,000 and an alternative bond of a similar amount while the case is to be mentioned on August 30.
