Kenya has recorded 817 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 6,350 tested in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative cases to 232,869 while the positivity rate stands at 12.9%.
From the new cases, 802 are Kenyans while 15 are foreigners and 427 are females while 390 are males.
The youngest case is a four-month-old infant while the oldest is 110 years.
According to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, total recoveries now stand at 216,771 after 644 more patients recovered from the disease.
From the new recoveries, 559 are from the home-based isolation and care programme while 85 are from various hospitals across Kenya.
Sadly, 35 new deaths were recorded, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 4,635. One of the deaths was reported in the last 24 hours while 34 are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in July and August 2021.
Currently, 1,972 patients are admitted to various hospitals countrywide while 8,674 are under the home-based care programme.
From the 156 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 126 are on ventilatory support and 30 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.
Another 697 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen, with 621 of them in general wards and 76 in high dependency units.
The Health CS added that a total of 2,649,820 vaccines have been administered across the country with the first doses being 1,854,630 while second doses are 795,190.
