Covid-19: Kenya records 646 new cases, 30 more deaths

Kenya has recorded 646 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 6,039 tested in the last 24 hours,  pushing the cumulative cases to 229,009 while the positivity rate stands at 10.7%. 

From the new cases, 343 females while 303 are males and 620 are Kenyans while 26 are foreigners.

The oldest case is 105 years old while the youngest is a four-month-old infant. 

Tota recoveries stand at 212,036 as 255 new recoveries have been recorded. 

From the new recoveries, 200 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme while 55 are from various health facilities.

Sadly, 30 new deaths were recorded, pushing 
the cumulative fatalities to 4,497. All the new deaths late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in June, July and August 2021. 
 
Currently, 2,063 patients are admitted to various health facilities while 9,024 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme, the Ministry of Health stated. 

From the 149 patients the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 77 are on ventilatory support and 72 on supplemental oxygen.

Another 819 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 756 of them in general wards and 63 in High Dependency Units.

As of Saturday, 2,396,064 vaccines had been administered across the country.
