Central Organization of Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has been elected the chairperson of the Global Workers Awareness Fund based in Sydney, Australia.
COTU deputy Secretary general Benson Okwaro announced Atwoli's election as the Fund's boss on Friday.
Global Workers Awareness Fund is mandated to create awareness of social, economic, and political awareness among its members.
He will serve for a three-year term.
Atwoli emerged as the favorite candidate in the contest considering he is the longest-serving member of the International Labour Organization( ILO).
In June, Atwoli was re-elected for a record fourth time as a member of the governing body of the Geneva-based organization.
