A man was stabbed to death on Saturday afternoon following an altercation that emerged
at the burial ceremony of a senior Kisumu County assembly staff, Lazarus Obera, in Miwani, Muhoroni sub county.
The killer was however shot by police on the legs, disarmed and arrested when he tried to escape
carrying the murder weapon.
The altercation was instigated by leaders differed over protocol.
Area Mp Onyango K'oyoo argued that he was the host and it was appropriate if he ran the program especially for political leaders.
However, Kisumu County assembly speaker Elisha Oraro, the then master of ceremony, instisted that he was to speak last since the deceased was an assembly staff.
Consequently, youths who were annoyed by the argument moved towards the podium and the stabbing incident occurred.
The stabbed man bled profusely and unfortunately died when being rushed to the hospital.
The body was taken to Ahero sub county hospital mortuary.
The burial ceremony was majorly disrupted as it ended in disarray.
The body of Lazarus Obera who was a senior human resource manager at the assembly was later laid to rest quietly by the church and his family members.
Kisumu Senator Fred Outa, Ex Governor Jack Ranguma and several MCAs were among leaders who attended the burial.
