Kenya has recorded 945 new infections tested from 7,295 samples in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative cases to 201,954 with the Ministry of Health urging strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols amid warnings of the more virulent delta variant.
From the new cases that have marked a positivity rate of 13%, 910 are Kenyans while 35 are foreigners and 481 are males while 464 are females.
The youngest patient is an eleven-month-old baby while the oldest is 100 years.
According to the Ministry, there were 216 new recoveries with 152 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 64 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Currently, 1,432 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 3,975 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program..
From the 175 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 41 are on ventilatory support, 82 on supplemental oxgen and 52 patients are under observation.
The Health Ministry said, “Another 446 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 400 of them in general wards and 46 in High Dependency Units (HDU).”
Unfortunately, cumulative fatalities have been pushed to 3,926 as 16 new deaths were reported on Friday.
All the deaths are are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the months of March, April, June and July 2021.
