Covid-19: Kenya records 692 new cases, cumulative cases stand at 191,712

 Kenya has recorded 692 new Covid-19 cases from 6,883 samples tested in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative cases to 191,712 with the current positivity rate standing at 10.1 per cent. 

From the new cases, 688 were Kenyans and 24 foreigners while 371 male and 321 female. 

The oldest case is 95-years-old while the youngest is a year old. 

According to the Ministry of Health, total recoveries stand at 180,543 as 123 new recoveries have been recorded. From the  new recoveries, 82 were from home-based care and 41 were discharged from hospital. 

Unfortunately, eight more people succumbed to the virus, raising the death toll to 3,754. 

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, 1,108 patients had been admitted to health facilities countrywide in the last 24 hours, while 4,352 others were under home-based isolation and care.

From those hospitalized, 124 patients were under intensive care, 38 on ventilator support, 60 on supplemental oxygen and 26 patients under observation.

Another 219 patients were separately on supplemental oxygen, 201 of them in general wards and 18 in high dependency units.

So far, 1,607,982 vaccine doses had been administered across the country, with the total of the first doses being 1,035,621 and second doses being 572,361.
