Court of Appeal to rule on BBI case on August 20

The fate of the Building  Bridges Initiative appeal case will be decided by the appellate court on Friday,  August 20

The promoters of the bill want the High Court previous ruling that declared the Bill unconstitutional overturned.

In their submission,  the petitioners argued that President Uhuru Kenyatta was condemned unheard.

Senior Counsel Otiende Amollo representing the petitioner argued that the court erred in its ruling particularly that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission recognizes MP Junet Mohamed and Dennis Waweru as the promoters of the Bill.

" The promoters of this initiative were Dennis Waweru and Junet Mohamed, the court insists on finding President Kenyatta as the promoter. Anyone can support the initiative,” Omollo said on Wednesday

The respondents including Linda Katiba, Kituo Cha Sheria, Law Society of Kenya and Kenya Human Rights Commission pleaded with the court to uphold the High Court's decision arguing that the creation of the Bill was unconstitutional.
