Alex Gitari confirmed Kenya Airports Authority boss

The Kenya Airports Authority has formally confirmed Alex Gitari as the Managing Director after serving for 23 months in an interim capacity following the exit of Johnny Anderson in 2019.

Mr. Gitari who until his appointment as the acting Managing Director was the authority's General Manager Finance was confirmed after the interviews were held by the board last week.

He emerged top after trouncing seven candidates who include Joseph Njoroge from the Ministry of Transport who came second and KAA manager Henry Ogoye who was third.


“It is with great pleasure that I announce on behalf of the KAA Board of Directors the appointment of Alex Gitari as the MD/CEO of KAA for a term of three years effective 8th July 2021. Mr. Gitari emerged as the best candidate after a rigorous interview process which was conducted as per the KAA Act and Public Service Commission guidelines.” Said Board Session Chairperson, Ms. Susan Kiama.

Mr.Gitari holds a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Nairobi, an Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School, and a Bachelors Degree of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Nairobi.


Mr. Anderson resigned as the authority's boss in October 2019 citing ' personal reasons'
