Two suspects, Samuel Maina and Boniface Mungai, were arrested on Tuesday evening in a house around Kilimani area after they were caught with fake money in US dollars, Euros and Kenyan currency notes amounting to Ksh. 750 million packed in metal boxes.
Police said that they found US Dollars of 100 bills amounting to $6,820,000, fake Euros of 100 bills totaling to 490,000 Euros and fake 1000 Kenya shillings notes amounting to Ksh.6.4 million.
Fake badges bearing names of UN, Della Rue, National Treasury, several safes and chemicals were also recovered from the house.
According to detectives, the suspects are part of a fake money syndicate targeting to con unsuspecting customers including banks.
Investigations on the matter are underway.
