Kenya opts for Johnson&Johnson vaccine amid AstraZeneca dwindling supply

The Ministry of Health has announced plans to purchase the Johnson&Johnson vaccines as to continue with the vaccination program.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the move to purchase the vaccine was necessitated by the delay in delivery of the AstraZeneca vaccine

" The Africa Union had negotiated with the Johnson &Johnson   to enable countries to purchase the vaccines at discounted prices, " said Kagwe

The CS also attributed the delay in delivery of the vaccine to the surge of Covid-19 infections in India, the makers of the AstraZeneca jab.

So far 721,509 Kenyans have been vaccinated against Covid-19
