Kapaito: Team work and staying fit have helped me to be in great form this season

Kariobangi Sharks striker Eric Kapaito has attributed his great form in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League this season to staying fit and team work.

Kapaito has scored 14 goals in 15 games, making him the leading goal scorer in the league. He hopes to continue with his excellent goal repertoire.

The Sharks striker said, “It has been a combination of many factors so far, God’s grace to staying injury free, hard work, team work and having the ambition to succeed this season,” he explained. “My teammates have been great by creating the chances for me to convert and helping the team gain more points so it’s a collective responsibility.”

According to him, the team has quality players to help in the mission towards clinching maiden league title. Sharks are currently in fourth place.

“The momentum of the team will definitely be affected by the break we have taken following the government directive, we are hoping to come back and continue fighting for the title despite the struggle of not training as a team,” Kapaito added.

He said that his experience during his call up to the national team in the recent international break was worthwhile.

Kapaito expressed, “It’s always a dream to play for the national team. It’s an opportunity any player takes by both hands, because of the different exposure and experience one gains while on duty which I feel was helpful to me because we played  alongside players we look up to and learn from.”
