Covid-19: Kenya records 495 new cases as positivity rate increases to 10%

Kenya has recorded 495 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 4,929, pushing the positivity rate to 10 per cent. 

From the new cases, 482 are Kenyans while 13 are foreigners while 297 are males and 198 are females.

The oldest is 96 years while the youngest is a one-year-old baby. 

According to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, 242 patients had recovered from the disease, 191 from home-based care, and 51 from various health facilities.

The total recoveries are now at 108,124. 

Unfortunately, the cumulative deaths have been pushed to 2,707 as 19 deaths have been reported over the past twenty-four hours. 

Currently, a total of 1,250 patients are admitted to various health facilities countrywide while 6,822 patients are on Home-based isolation and care.

From the 191 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU), 31 are on ventilatory support while 129 on supplemental oxygen. 31 patients are on observation.

A total of 865,897 persons have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 disease countrywide. Those 
aged 58 years and above are 502,893, Health workers  are 156,344, teachers are 134,083 while Security officers 72,581.
