Republic of Congo opposition president candidate dies of Covid-19

Republic of Congo opposition presidential candidate Brice Parfait Kolelas is dead, his campaign director Christian Cyr Rodrigue has confirmed 

Kolelas died of coronavirus while in a medical aircraft en route to France for treatment on Sunday.

The sixty-year-old tested positive for coronavirus and was unable to host his final campaign meeting in Brazzaville.


Kolelas was the main challenger of incumbent Sassou Nguesso has been at the helm of the country since 1979.
