Veteran politician Hosea Kiplagat dies aged 76

Former politician and longtime businessman Hosea Kiplagat has died at the age of 76.

The family stated that he died on Saturday morning, around 9:30 am while at the Karen Hospital, Nairobi.

Kiplagat was known to have been one of the closest associates and aides of the late President Daniel Moi as he was his maternal cousin.

He was born in 1945 to the late Isaac Salgong and the late Zipporah Salgong.

Before resigning and venturing into business, the former Co-operative Bank chairman worked as a prison warder.

Kiplagat was a long-serving chairman of the Baringo branch of KANU and chairman of the Co-operative Bank during the Moi era.

He lost to Sammy Mwaita in 2007 General Elections, when he ran for the Baringo Central Parliamentary seat.
