LSK staff protest salary delays

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) staff have expressed their displeasure regarding delayed salaries for the last three months.

According to the staff, they have not received their pay from November last year, yet controversies and wrangles in the society's leadership continue to take center stage.

38 staff members have already written to the society's management exprssing their displeasure in the remittance of their salaries.

The workers claimed that most of them have been unable to pay their bills as well as provide upkeep for the families due to the delays.

In a letter dated February 10 and addressed to the Chief Executive Office, the disgruntled workers want the institution to address the issue of salary arrears alongside other issues.

The letter read in part, “Regrettably, we write to you as employees of the Law Society of Kenya, about delays in remittance of our salaries for November 2020, December 2020, and January 2021.”

According to the workers, the institution has failed to reciprocate their diligent delivery of services as it has not been paying them in time and has also failed to communicate about the delays.

They stated, “As employees, we render our services daily as the delay in salaries continues to cause us financial difficulties and mental anguish.”

The workers appealed to the society's management to avoid dragging them into their  boardroom disagreements that have dominated the institution in the last couple of months.

LSK has neither issued a comment nor a statement on the matter.
