The Building Bridges Initiative secretariat co-chairs Junet Mohamed and Dennis Waweru on Wednesday announced that the rallies for the popularisation of the BBI Bill will start next week.
Speaking in Nairobi the two said its now clear that the bill will be subjected to a referendum after being passed by 41 county assemblies thereby surpassing the 24 threshold required in law.
"Referendum is just like an election, we have to go out there and campaign, and we’re prepared," read a statement from the secretariat
The secretariat further lauded the MCAs for passing the bill that seeks to promote inclusivity and advance patriotism.
The bill now heads to parliament for deliberation with the secretariat calling on the lawmakers to emulate the MCAs in amplifying the voices of the common mwananchi
" As the BBI Bill moves to parliament we urge our colleagues in the Senate and National Assembly to ignore propaganda and emulate the MCAs in amplifying the voices of the people, " added the statement.
