Two terminals at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) have been closed down as renovation works commence at the transport hub.
According to a statement the Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) made on Saturday, January 16,
Terminal 1B and Terminal 1C will be inaccessible to flight operators and their passengers.
The authority stated, "All flight operations previously in T1B and T1C have now been migrated to Terminal 1A and Terminal 2."
Terminal 1A will serve Lufthansa German Airlines, Qatar Airways, Ethiopia Airlines, RwandAir, Air Mozambique, Air Arabia, Turkish Airlines, Egypt Air and British Airways.
Terminal 2 will serve passengers travelling using Air Uganda, UNHAS and Emirates.
"The terminals will remain closed to pave way for renovation works to upgrade the airport and improve on the passenger experience," KAA added.
The authority assured that it aims at providing a seamless travel experience as it is working closely with all its partner airlines and other stakeholders at JKIA.
The renovation process is expected to take 12 months at a cost of Ksh963 million.
The refurbished terminals will be characterized by improved check-in, security screening, retail operations as well as lounge experience for departing passengers.
