Kenya international Michael Olunga has opened his Al-Duhail SC goal account as he scored twice against Al Ahli on Monday during the Emir Cup Round of 16 encounter.
The former Kashiwa Reysol star scored his first goal from the spot in the sixth minute before Edmilson Junior made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute. The former Gor Mahia star added the third goal in the 43rd minute to ensure Al-Duhail headed back to the tunnel with a healthy lead.
The Harambee Star was not done with Al Ahli as he scored the third goal in the 69th minute with an assist from Belgian international Junior who also helped him grab his second goal.
The fifth goal for the home side came in the 78th minute when Luiz Cera found the back of the net to stretch the game far away from the visitors’ reach. Junior earned a brace when he scored the sixth for Olunga’s side as they ran riot against the local rivals.
The goals came for Olunga after he had affirmed his readiness to help the Qatari champions win matches.
“Football is the same. It has no difference regardless of the place or region,” the former Thika United striker said in an earlier interview. “In Doha, Japan or any other country it is just the same. The most important element is the adaptation with the team and I am very happy to be with the team and teammates now.”
