A 56-year-old man who pleaded guilty to committing an indecent act with a three-year-old minor has been sentenced to four years in jail.
Court prosecutor Nancy Kerubo read the court facts and confirmed to be true after which the conviction was determined before Kibera senior principal magistrate Esther Boke.
According to police reports, the convicted man urinated on the private parts of a three-year-old.
The charge sheet indicated that the offence was committed on January 27 in Deep Sea Slums in Kibra, Nairobi County.
Kerubo stated that the child who had been left with her mother at their neighbour's place was later spotted by another neighbour entering the house of the accused person.
One of the neighbors who learned about the matter went to check what was happening and the accused person assaulted her after she questioned him about the accusations.
He slammed the door on her face saying "Kwenda huko.”
The prosecution stated, “On arriving at the accused person’s door, she saw the minor holding her panties on her hand and upon interrogating the minor, she told her that the accused person had urinated in her private parts."
The magistrate informed man of his right of appeal within 14 days from the conviction date.
