Kenya has recorded 99 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 4,758 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 100,422.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced on Thursday, January 28, that 1,172,167 samples have been tested for the virus across the country since the pandemic began.
Kagwe stated that from the positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours, 19 are foreigners while 80 are Kenyans and 37 are females while 62 are males.
The oldest case is 88 years while the youngest is a five-year-old child.
The Health CS also stated that 66 patients who have recovered from the virus have been discharged.
From the recoveries, 34 are from various health facilities across the country while 32 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. The total recoveries are now at 83,757.
Unfortunately, the total fatalities in the country have risen to 1,753 as two patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.
476 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,363 are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
Out of the 28 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 14 are on ventilatory support and 13 on supplemental oxygen. The other is under observation.
From the 16 patients that are separately on supplementary oxygen, 11 are in the general wards while 5 are in the High Dependency Unit.
