Miguna Miguna, the Kenya-Canadian lawyer who was controversially deported from Kenya to Canada and denied access back to the country has officially announced that he will contest for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
Miguna will be flying the Thirdway Alliance Kenya ticket, announced on Monday, December 28, 2021.
In a statement, the party described him as a leader who has sacrificed for Kenyans, saying that he was the most suitable to take over from Governor Mike Sonko who was recently impeached by the Senate.
“Dr Miguna Miguna is a Kenyan citizen by birth ID number 2790598 who has sacrificed and worked for this great nation and is the answer to this bankrupt leadership which has deprived development in Nairobi,” the statement read in part.
Mr Fredrick Okang’o, the party’s Secretary-General told a local news outlet that the party officials met with officials from the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) on Monday morning where they discussed details of Miguna’s candidature.
