The family of SpongeBob SquarePants animator Tuck Tucker confirmed that he died on December 22. However, they did not reveal the cause of death was not revealed.
The US-based writer and animator passed away at the age of 59.
The statement by the family on social media read,
"It is with a heavy and broken heart that the Tucker family announces the death of Tuck Tucker, father, husband, son, brother, and uncle. We know he was loved by all of those whom he met."
A family member wrote, "In lieu of visitations, if you have memories of Tuck you would like to share on his timeline, the family would greatly appreciate reading them. An obituary will be forthcoming, however, please help us inform all who knew him by sharing this post."
William Osborne Tucker III was Tucker's full name. He made his debut in the animation scene with Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night in 1987.
He also contributed to The Little Mermaid, Rugrats and several episodes of The Simpsons. However, was popular for his animation work on SpongeBob SquarePants and the subsequent film.
Tucker won the Annie Award alongside three co-creators for Best Music in a Television Production in 2011.
The animator directed Hey Arnold! The Movie and worked on a number of the popular show's episodes.
Apart from the actual animation work, Tucker was also a graphic and animation design teacher at Longwood University in Farmville.
Fans and friends continue paying tribute to the animation legend.
