Officers nab gang drugging revellers in Kiambu

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers nabbed a gang that has been drugging revellers at a hotel in Kiambu county after they pursued a tip-off from residents. 

The gang of five cons had been stealing from unsuspecting members of the public in Ruiru area.

DCI noted, "Mobile phones and several bottles bearing labels of various brands of alcohol, and which are believed to contain stupefying substances were also confiscated from the five, aged between 24 and 30 years." 

Police are delving into further investigations to determine the modes of operation of the suspects while the seized items are under forensic analysis. 

Revellers have been warned to be highly cautious particularly during the festive season. 

These type of gangs spike the drinks of unsuspecting people. This is common some clubs along the Eastern Bypass and Ruiru town, according Ruiru police boss. 

Stilnox and Zolpidem are most common drugs used in the operations whereby the former retails at Ksh480 and the latter, which is its generic version, retails between Ksh10 and Ksh20 per tablet.
