Mind your own business; Cate Waruguru tells Ngirici

In what is turning out to be an interesting showdown between two former allies, firebrand Laikipia County Women Rep Cate Waruguru has told off her Kirinyaga counterpart Purity Ngirici over what she terms as malicious attempts to malign her name through baseless gossip and rumour mongering.

Hon Waruguru now says Hon Ngirici and her family are behind the recent stories doing rounds on social media where the Laikipia MP is accused of moving in with a married businessman from Kirinyaga, a Mr Peter Waweru, after she separated with her former husband, Nanyuki based advocate, Kiprotich William Kigen.

Speaking exclusively to Latest, Waruguru said the moves by the Ngiricis are a veiled attempt to blackmail Mr Waweru, over a 5 million debt the businessman extended to the Ngiricis in good faith, which the family has been unable to settle.

Economic fortunes for the flamboyant Kirinyaga family are said to have been dwindling of late, allegedly due to bad business times and mismanagement, even forcing them to eat a humble pie and silently relocate from their posh rented home in Gilgil, back to Utawala, an estate they once termed as village, over 10 months rent arrears.

“They should just pay their debt and stop sideshows. Paying bloggers and issuing death threats won’t work,” said Hon Waruguru.

“What I and Mr Waweru decide to do with our personal lives is none of anyone’s business. If anything, Mr Waweru is an adult and no one should lecture him about personal decisions. Hon Wangui should know that everyone has a constitutional right to date whoever they wish and she cannot dictate such matters even to her own son or daughter,” added the MP.

Our attempts to reach the Ngiricis for a comment were futile as our phone calls went unanswered.
