Doctors call off strike

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists' Union have resolved to call off the nationwide strike with immediate effect. 

The union, Ministries of Health and Labour officials held a close door  meeting on Thursday, December 24, to try and iron out contentious issues that the medics wanted addressed. 


The Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, his Labour counterpart Simon Chelugui consequently signed a return to work formulae that will guide their engagements going forward. 


"It is a win win situation. Nobody loses in this kind of arrangement. We were hoping to give this gift to Kenyans on Christmas and gladly will have done us," said CS Kagwe.

In an announcement made by the Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Secretary General Dr. Chibanzi Mwachonda on Thursday, doctors will continue offering their services to Kenyans.
