Covid-19 cases nears 90,000 mark

The current total number of  Covid-19 cases in Kenya has risen to 88,380 as the country has recorded 396 more Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. 

The cumulative fatalities are currently 1,526 after 8 more succumbed to the disease. 

Total recoveries now stand at 68,929  as 397 patients have recovered from the disease. 

From the 397, 79 have been discharged from various hospital and 318 from the home-based care program. 

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe in a statement on Sunday noted that the new cases emanated from 4,717 samples tested during that period, bringing the cumulative tests to 931,799.

From the positive cases, 23 are foreigners while 373 are Kenyans. 

254 are males and 142 females. The youngest is a two-year-old. 

The total number of patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide is 1,178 while that of those on Home Based Isolation and Care.

From the 86 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 36 are on ventilatory support while 49 are on supplemental oxygen.

From another 66 patients who are separately on supplementary oxygen, 58 are in the general wards while are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
