DCI detectives arrested a man, Rashid Barasa Omari, on Saturday after discovering that he is linked to the disappearance of young college girls from their homes.
DCI boss George Kinoti said that 21-year old Omari has been using the comments section on Tour and Travel advertisements to fish vulnerable girls to pounce and coerce them.
According to the DCI, the suspect fools the girls by presenting himself to them in a way that makes them believe he can sponsor them to the advertised destinations.
Kinoti added, "Instead, he lures them to lodgings in Nairobi after sending them bus fare, then robs them off their valuables before disappearing to his hideout."
After arresting suspect, the detectives found valuables such as the victims' laptops, mobile phones and handbags in his house to which he led them.
Kinoti urged young college students, "We are appealing to young college students to be wary of such criminals preying on them on social networking sites."
