Burnley beat Crystal Palace to claim first win of the season

Burnley beat Palace 1-0 at home to claim their first Premier League win this season.

Chris Wood's first half strike gave the hosts their first goal at home and their only goal of the game.

The Clarets had lost five and drawn two of their first seven games to leave them second from bottom in the table.

Palace missed the services of their Ivorian forward Wilfried Zaha after he tested positive for coronavirus.

After the restart,  Johann Gudmundsson crashed his shot against the crossbar,  Dwight McNeil mistake put Batshuayi in on goal but he could not beat Pope in a chance to level things up.

The win moves Burnley up to 17th on five points, one point clear of the relegation zone, while Crystal Palace remain on 13 points in 10th place.
