Another Kenyan film debuts on Netflix

Another Kenyan film has made debut on the global circle days after Sincerely Daisy enjoyed a similar fete  .

'40 Sticks' a locally produced film is currently streaming on Netflix.

The 95-minute feature film and thriller premiered on Netflix on Friday November, 20, 2020.

‘40 Sticks’ becomes the fourth Kenyan film to feature on Netflix, after Poacher, Sincerely Daisy and Disconnect respectively. 

The film is based on a fictional story created by Frank G. Maina,written by Voline Ogutu and directed by Victor Gatonye. The executive producer was Fakii Liwali. 

The story is about eight death row inmates trapped in a crashed prison bus striving to stay alive as they are threatened by a mysterious killer lurking in the shadows.

The cast include Robert Agengo, Bilal Mwaura, Shivisi Shivske, Andreo Kamau, Cajetan Boy, Xavier Ywaya, Mumbi Maina, Gerald Langiri and Bruce Makau.


'40 Sticks' was shot in February 2019 across 5 locations in Nairobi in 16 days. SensePlay partnered with Kenya Film Studios to produce it. 

The film which is currently trending in Kenya on Netflix was rated 16 officially by Bingi Media, Ogopa Inc and the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB).
