Tenant charged for insulting, threatening to stab landlady

A tenant, Caroline Nyang’au, has been charged with offensive conduct following allegations that she insulted her landlady Bilha Momanyi and threatened to stab her over rent issues. 

According to the charge sheet, Nyang’au insulted Momanyi on October 10, in Lang'ata area.

Allegedly, she said that if Momanyi visited her house again to collect rent, she would stab with a kitchen knife. Nyang’au also claimed that her landlady cannot bear children. 

Nyang’au however denied the charges before Magistrate Philip Mutua. 

She pleaded for lenient bond terms and Magistrate Mutua who directed the case for mentioning on November 12 released her on Sh5,000 cash bail. 

According to police reports, Momanyi reported the issue to Nyumba Kumi elders who in turn reported the case to the police after they failed to reconcile the two women.
