Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has refuted claims that she heckled Deputy President William Ruto during the Building Bridges Initiative report launch on Monday at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.
Taking to her official Facebook handle, Millie pointed out that she disagreed with the DP loudly and that people should know the difference between that and heckling.
She wrote, "I did not heckle the Deputy President. I just disagreed loudly! Differentiate."
The firebrand legislator also said that when she heard DP Ruto criticizing the BBI report, she wanted to respond but she did not have a microphone.
“I was answering his questions because he was asking us questions about what should be done, and I was basically reminding him he is the deputy president and I should be asking him the questions he was asking and not vice versa,” Millie said in an interview on KTN.
At the launch, the DP raised various issues regarding the BBI report that he felt needed to be addressed but a section of those in attendance heckled him shouting, “respect the president.”
However, Ruto was relentless in making his points.
During the interview on KTN, Millie acknowledged that the BBI report may need strengthening in some areas.
She stated, “There are some issues that will be addressed through the constitutional review and some through legislative action."
