Cuban doctors who were abducted by Al-Shabaab from Mandera last year have been released.
This is according to the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno RodrÃguez Parrilla, who made the announcement via his official Twitter page.
The two doctors, Assel Herrera and Landy Rodriguez, were kidnapped from the border town back in April 2019.
The morning incident took place near the border with Somalia after armed assailants blocked an official car ferrying Dr RodrÃguez, a surgeon, and Dr Herrera to the hospital where they worked.
The two were part of a 100-member Cuban medical brigade that was working in Kenya under an agreement between the two countries.
