Churchill responds to Kenyans blaming him for comedians misfortune

Popular Comedian and Churchill Show host Daniel Ndambuki has rebuked Kenyans blaming him for the misfortunes of comedians who participate in the show.

Speaking during the burial of Ben Maurice popularly known as Othuol Othuol, Ndambuki paid his last respect and revealed how he started the Churchill Show whose main was to identify and uplift the talended youth the laugh industry.

The ceremony was held in Ndere village in Siaya County where the deceased who was also a Churchill Show comedian was laid to rest.

In his speech at the ceremony, Ndambuki said that Kenyans blaming him for the misfortunes and depression cases of Churchill comedians have misplaced the blame as it should be directed to the government.

He stated, "I'm not the government. I'm not funded by the government. I'm just a person who had a small dream and whose ambition was to change the lives of as many Kenyans as I could and make them realize their dreams."

According to the comedian, the government's effort towards nurturing and supporting young Kenyan talents is inadequate.

"Let me ask you, most of you have performed high school drama festival, primary schools to the national level and it ends up in State House, have you asked yourself what happens to those talents? That is how most of the dreams die?" Ndambuki further noted.

He said that for most  comedians, Churchill Show is the only platform giving them exposure.

Ndambuki added," The reason why you see them say Churchill comedian when something bad happens is because it's the only platform that they get to be seen. Listen, I am not the government and I am not funded by the government."

He emphasized the need for comedians to use their social media platforms strategically to build their careers and enhance the exposure of their content.

Some Kenyans have been critical of Ndambuki, alleging that the laugh industry management mistreat comedians and pushes them to depression.

In July while appearing on Jalang'o TV Churchill comedians Zeddy said that comedians in the Show are paid only if their art appears on TV.

According to Zeddy, some comedians became depressed because they performed for months but their shows never aired.

The comedian added, “The audience during the live recording usually get to see up to 15 performances and wonder why only a few are aired."
