Moi University lecturer Prof Charles Ochieng’ Ong’ondo has been appointed as the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) director.
Prof Ong'ondo will spearhead education reforms in the country.
He was appointed after a vigorous recruitment process led by KICD chairperson Dr Sarah Ruto.
The application process ended on August 25 . Interviews were conducted earlier this month.
Prof Ong’ondo takes over from Dr Joel Mabonga who has been serving in an acting capacity since February.
Dr Julius Jwan, who was the former director, left the agency on February 26 to serve as the Principal Secretary of Technical and Vocational Education.
The position is key for the implementation of the competency based curriculum (CBC) which is now at grade four and planning to roll out grade five next year.
