MP Wamalwa concedes defeat to Natembeya in Trans Nzoia Governor contest

Outgoing Kiminini Member of Parliament Chris Wamalwa has conceded defeat after failing in his quest to succeed  Patrick Khaemba as the second Governor of Trans Nzoia County.

Wamalwa, in a social media post congratulated his competitor Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) candidate George Natembeya, for winning the race.

"I congratulate my Brother George Natembeya on his victory. I wish him well,"

He thanked his supporters as well as the Ford-Kenya party for backing his bid, further wishing Natembeya well in his new role.

“The Elections are now over and the results are out. I have not been successful in my quest to be the second Governor of our great County. I thank the Almighty God, all my supporters, from both far and near, for their unyielding support. Receive my eternal gratitude,” he wrote.

“I thank the great people of Kiminini Constituency for giving me the opportunity to be their MP for two terms. I thank my Party- Ford Kenya for it's support. My heartfelt gratitude to the party supporters and volunteers who have worked so hard in this campaign.”

According to official results announced by Trans Nzoia County returning officerJohn Cox Lorionkou, Natembeya , former Regional Coordinator for Rift Valley garnered 158,919 votes against his closet challenger Wamalwa who got 79,020.

Others in the race are Jim Nduruchi an independent candidate who got  2460, Timothy Kiplagat (IND)  who garnered 2499 and Wycliffe Eshiwani (IND) 344.

While reacting to concession moments after being declared the Governor elect, Natembeya called on Wamalwa to join him in transforming Trans Nzoia County.

"To my competitor Hon Chris Wamalwa  I wish to request you we join hands to transform Transnzoia,since  this victory belongs to Transnzoia residents therefore it will be agreat honor as leaders to shelve our competitive aspects and focus to bring change." said Natembeya.
