Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, who is wanted for the murder of his competitor's aide has surrendered himself to the police. Bungoma Police station.
Barasa who has allegedly been on the run surrendered himself to Bungoma Police Station barely a day after the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), gave him a 6-hour ultimatum.
The detectives had ordered him to surrender himself to the nearest police station over the murder of Brian Olunga, an aide of his competitor.
"The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is warning Hon Didmus Barasa, who has since gone into hiding after the brutal murder of one, to surrender to the nearest police station within the next 6-hours," wrote DCI.
Barasa is accused of shooting and killing Olunga at the Chebukwabi polling station on the night of August 9.
He however met the lawmaker at the polling station, prompting him to leave barely a few minutes after his arrival.
While heading towards his car the candidate said the incumbent MP followed him in company of four men and ordered them not to allow him leave the precints of the polling station.
The aspiring MP’s is however said to have defied Barasa’s order and ignited the vehicle.
“Didmus Barasa withdrew a pistol and aimed at Mr Khaemba's aide namely Brian Olunga and shot him on the forehead where he profusely bled,” read the police report.
