Religious leaders endorse DP Ruto for President, proposes Waiguru as running mate

A section of church leaders have thrown their weight behind  Deputy President William Ruto Presidential candidature.

Speaking after holding an intedenominational prayer service at DP Ruto's Karen residence, the clergy men drawn from the Federation of Evangelical and Indigenous Churches of Kenya (FEICCK) cited Ruto's faith and track record as a man who feared God as the key influence of their support for his candidature.

“Kenyans must open their eyes and only choose leaders who are after the heart of God. We know the heart of God is always with the people,” he said.

Bishop Njiriri further pledged that the men of the cloth will from now henceforth educate and persuade their followers to back DP Ruto.

“We are clear about the choice of our presidential candidate for the 2022 general elections. We shall go to our churches and persuade our people to elect DP William Ruto as the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya,” he said.

The clergy men also proposed the naming of Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru as Ruto's running mate, noting that she was best suited for the post.

“We are making a passionate appeal to our presidential candidate to nominate a woman as his running mate. We specifically appeal that he nominates Governor Waiguru,” the FEICCK boss added.
