State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita joins Machakos Governor race

"I will work till the 9th of February at 5 am. I will then make a farewell call to the president and ask for his blessings and support as well as thank him for allowing me to work for the people of Kenya in his administration ,” he said. 

Waita who remained tight lipped on the political party he will be contesting on maintained he will not stray far from President Kenyatta.

Waita a former Compliance Director at Safaricom said that it is now his duty to convince the people of Machakos to vote for him at the polls and that their resources will be safe in his hands.

If he succeeds, he will become the  second former State House operative at the helm of Machakos County. Incumbent Governor Alfred Mutua quit his job in 2013 as Goverment Spokesman.

Waita is set to face-off with Transport CAS Wavinya Ndeti, Machakos assembly speaker Florence Mwangangi, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, Deputy Governor Francis Maliti and United Democratic Alliance chairman Johnson Muthama all of whom have declared interest in the seat
