Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has directed Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to investigate Meru Senator Mithika Linturi over alleged incitement remarks.
Senator Linturi the made utterances that has since drawn mixed reaction during Deputy President William Ruto's rally in Eloret Sports ground.
DPP Haji, in a letter issued on Saturday , ordered the police boss to initiate investigations into the incident and table the findings to his office by January 14, 2021.
“My attention has been drawn to a video clip circulating on social media platforms portraying Mithika Linturi allegedly addressing a crowd and stating that “…Watu wa Uasin Gishu musicheze na Kenya, na kile nawaomba ni kwamba madoa doa yale mulionayo hapa muweze kuondoa…’ which utterances could incite feelings of contempt, hatred, hostility, violence or discrimination,” said the DPP in the letter.
“I hereby direct that you immediately institute comprehensive investigations into the said allegations and submit the resultant investigation file on or before 14 January 2021."
