National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has recalled Members of Parliament from recess for special house sittings from Tuesday, December 21.
In a notice on Thursday, the Speaker stated that the sittings would take place during both morning and afternoon sessions and would take place up to Wednesday, December 22.
“Hon. Members, you are notified that, on a request of the Leader of the Majority Party, the Speaker has approved Special Sittings of the House to be held next week, Tuesday 21st & Wednesday 22nd December 2021,” noted Muturi.
The House is set to approve the appointments of the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission and members of the National Gender & Equality Commission,
The lawmakers are also set approve the third Reading of the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI) Bill, 2020; Consider the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering (Amendment) Bill, 2021; Political Parties (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and NHIF (Amendment) Bill, 2021.
The National Assembly had taken a seven-week recess on December 2 and sessions were set to resume on January 25, 2022.
