Former Kitui Governor Julius Malombe's wife dies

Edith Mawia Malombe, wife to former Kitui Governor Julius Malombe is dead.

A statement released by the family on Wednesday said that Mama Edith died on Tuesday night following a short illness.

"It is with profound sadness that we the family announce the passing on of Edith Mawia Malombe on December 7, 2021, after a short illness," the statement said.

Mama Edith who was the pioneer First Lady of Kitui County was an advocate of the High Court.

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu led the county in mourning Mrs. Malombe eulogizing her as a dedicated servant who worked tirelessly in addressing the welfare of orphans and reproductive health during her time as the First Lady of Kitui County.

" I have learned with profound shock and sadness about the passing on of Mama Edith Mawia Malombe, the wife my predecessor and the first Governor of Kitui Dr Julius Malombe,” Governor Ngilu said in her message of condolence.

“On behalf of the County Government and all people of Kitui as well as on my own behalf, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to Dr Malombe and the family, to the Ithiani Community, and to all relatives and friends of the family.”
